Glasses to make you look younger

Wearing glasses is no longer a stigma. In fact, young people are wearing glasses, even if they don’t need them! Glasses are now a fashion statement. So, don’t worry about having to wear glasses. Also, there is such a wide range of eyewear to choose from, you don’t have to worry about looking old or boring! Glasses are now considered a fashion accessory, so why not choose the ones that make you look younger and fashionable or choose several glasses for different occasions.

Today, there are so many styles and colours available for eyewear, it is almost mind-boggling. So it’s important to spend some time to try out a wide range of different frames. Don’t be afraid to go outside your comfort zone. Trying doesn’t cost anything, so go forth and conquer! Also, there is less of a divide now between with so-called eyewear gender with many styles being unisex. Having said that, if you are a woman and you like a pair of glasses aimed at men, don’t fret, go for them. There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, bolder looking eyewear can make you look younger.

If there are simply too many choices and you can’t decide, then use the expertise of a professional. Most eyewear professionals are trained to know what shapes or styles best suit a certain face shape or eyewear need. For instance, if you have a round face with full cheeks, then you should look for frames that are wider, rather than taller and with those with nosepads may also be more comfortable. But keep in mind that these are just generalisations and ultimately, you can choose the eyewear that you like and which you believe looks good on you!

Eyewear now runs the gambit from conservative to funky colours and patterns. On one end, choose a frame colour that compliments your skin tone or hair colour. Or choose a frame in your favourite colour or a bolder colour to make a statement. Bolder and brighter colours can also make you look younger. Here, it is also important to try out a range of colours to see what feels and looks right. Also, glasses have become more affordable, so it is possible to own more than one pair. Many people now make fashion statements with their glasses and may choose one pair for day time and another pair for evening outings.

Not only frames, but lenses have also become more functional. For older wearers, who may need bi-focal lenses, do not fret, veri-focal lenses are now thin and virtually invisible – not like the clunky ones your parents or grandparents used to wear! If you just need glasses to read the menu at a restaurant, consider getting glasses that look like a necklace and pendant – a modern version of the Lorgnette (Folding, handheld glasses) or pendant necklace. If you spend many hours in front of a computer, you may want to consider lenses that cut blue light emissions, but you may also want those glasses for an evening outing. This means you can have functional, yet fashionable glasses.

The material of your frames is also something to consider. Some feel that metal frames make you look old, with many younger people opting for materials like plastic, acetate, wood or a combination of materials. Play with how different material frames look on you. You may also want to consider the functionality of materials. Some hi-tech metals offer added flexibility and durability, compared to other materials.

The bottom line, enjoy choosing a new pair of glasses and change your look!
