Now that you have bought your new glasses, you need to take care of them. Even high-quality designer frames will undergo wear and tear with daily wear, but with proper care, you can lengthen the lifespan of your glasses or sunglasses.
By following some simple rules, you can avoid scratching or breaking your glasses.
Most designer glasses come with a case. When not wearing your glasses, always store them in the case. If you tend to put your sunglasses in bags a lot, consider investing in a hard case to protect your glasses from being crushed or scratched.
Never clean your glasses with tissues or clothing. They can feel soft to the touch, however, they are actually abrasive and will scratch or damage your glasses. Always use the lens cleaning cloth which is provided with your glasses or purchase a specific lens cleaning cloth.
Solvents or chemicals or sprays should not be used to clean lenses or frames. Most chemicals will wear away the finish on lenses and damage them. However, if you want to clean your glasses, simply use warm water to rinse off dust or dirt and either let them air dry or use a lens specific cloth to dry them off.
Putting glasses and sunglasses on your head, although convenient, is not recommended. Not only could they fall off, but your head is wider than your face and, in many cases, this will cause the frames to bend out of shape and the glasses will no longer fit properly.
Perhaps not intuitive, but never leave your glass on a hot surface or in car in direct sunlight. The intense heat can damage lens coatings and frames.
If your glasses do happen to get damaged, do not try to repair them yourself. In some cases this may void the warranty of your glasses. If your glasses become damaged, please contact our Customer Service department on +44 (0)800 731 8118 or email: [email protected] and one of our experienced staff will be happy to help.
Following these simple rules will give your glasses longevity. Also, remember that damaged glasses or lenses can impair your vision or cause eyestrain.
