The new trend in consumer goods is ‘up-cycling’. What is up-cycling you ask? Up-cycling refers to using waste or unwanted materials into new materials or products. In other words, creative re-use. You probably have already seen products from the up-cycling trend, just didn’t know the term! Up-cycling is also now being incorporated into eyewear.

Tiffany - New York since 1837
The iconic Tiffany brand was founded in 1837 by Charles Tiffany and John Young. Originally the company sold stationery and later added jewellery to its product line-up. The Tiffany brand became widely known thanks to the mail order catalogue it launched in 1845. Using its now hallmark blue colour, the catalogue quickly became known as the ‘Blue Book’ and was widely sought after.

Phillipe Starck
Philippe Starck has become one of the iconic designers of his time. Known for his architectural designs and industrially inspired designs, Starck actually began his career under the tutelage of French designer Pierre Cardin.
Having studied interior architecture, so far, Starck has designed a vast and eclectic range of things, from hotels, to toothbrushes, to bathroom fixtures, to chairs, to sunglasses.
